Not being able to achieve a goal you yearn for produces the worst senses of failure and discouragement which will disrupt your your peace of mind. A university student may not be able to enroll in a major they desire to be in and someone would probably not find a job that is adequetly match their degree and qualifications. For some people, these things can make life unbearable, but you can shape your own destiny if you are determined, diligent, and persistent.

I could never forget my father's words, the phrase still echoing inside my mind: "There is no place for the impossible in our world." I finished high school with a grade of 62 in the scientific stream. I thought that my last year of high school was fateful, and because of that, I felt like an actual failure, and I believed my future was terminated. After all that, I pondered how things were going; I considered repeating the last year of high school or going abroad to pursue my studies. Then, my engineering father advised me to study one of the technical majors since the labor market lacks artisans. I wasn't fully convinced, but eventually, I enrolled in Industrial automation at Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology. In the first year, I ranked at the top of my class; from that moment onwards, the love of that specialty grew rapidly inside me, and I was so proud that I studied at this college.

In the last semester, I began preparing my ideas for a modern, contemporary graduation project in order to keep up with the quick pace of life. Hence, the project, which I got an A in, was of a smart home that will be composed of electrical circuits that are interconnected with each other in order to provide a whole system of central heating, with the ability to control the temperature; a remote control system; a theft protection system; a fire alarm and extinguishing system; an automated irrigation system; and an energy saving system by utilizing solar power.

Looking for a job

I graduated from college and, from there, started my work life. My first job was at The National Beverage Company Coca-Cola as a maintenance technician. Later, I got a new opportunity to work in the same position at Al-Quds Elevators and Escolatoers company. Afterward, I found a stable job as an electrical and mechanical maintenance technician at Near East Industries and Trade (Safi oil) and at Al'Ard Palestinian Agri-Products Ltd, one of the Anabtwi Group companies. All thanks to God, within three months, I proved my abilities, was hired permanently, and successfully completed the probationary period because the company aided in developing my skills through intensive courses on managing productive processes. Then, my expertise increased in mechanics and pneumatics until I became the company's maintenance manager.

Reaching your desired goal by scientific experiments:

After a year of working as a maintenance manager, I decided to buy a modest car to help with my personal needs. It's amazing to buy something at such a young age that you worked so hard to achieve. The only obstacle I had was that there was that the car didn't have air conditioning, so I started to figure out how to cool it down without using the engine. I tried multiple challenging techniques that failed because I didn't have enough experience in the refrigeration field, but after a while, I came out with good results. Until now, I've been making adjustments to reduce the size of the AC until it becomes portable.

Here, Hatim says that having a setback doesn't mean you are a failure, but failure is to stay in the pit you fell in.
