A delegation representing the Thabiri Project, accompanied by representatives of the Government of Canada, visited Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology to review the implementation of the project’s activities and explore its key achievements and interventions carried out over the past six years at the College.
The delegation was received by Dr. Amer Massad, Dean of the College, and Eng. Alaa Darwish, Coordinator of the Studies and Projects Unit. During the visit, a comprehensive presentation was delivered highlighting the impact of the Thabiri Project on developing the College’s educational infrastructure and enhancing the quality of technical and vocational education and training.
The visit also included a field tour of several workshops and laboratories that were established and upgraded with the support of the project. These included the Internet of Things (IoT) Lab, the Carpentry Workshop, and the Occupational Health and Safety Lab, where the delegation was introduced to the facilities and their role in aligning training programs with the needs of the Palestinian labor market.
During the visit, the delegation also met with a group of female students who are beneficiaries of the Thabiri Scholarship for the 2025/2026 academic year. The students shared their experiences and success stories, highlighting how the scholarship has supported their educational journeys and enabled them to pursue specialized technical and vocational fields.
At the conclusion of the visit, discussions focused on potential initiatives and future interventions that could be implemented under the proposed Thabiri Project – Phase II (Thabiri II). These discussions emphasized the importance of developing technical and vocational specializations that respond to the needs of the Palestinian labor market, thereby enhancing employment opportunities and supporting sustainable economic development.
