As part of its commitment to developing the skills of its teaching staff and equipping them with advanced practical expertise, An-Najah National University organized a two-day specialized training course in leather industries at the Fashion Workshop of Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology, with a total of 12 training hours.
The course provided a detailed overview of different types of leather and the appropriate handling techniques for each. Participants also received hands-on training in leather cutting and shaping, transforming raw materials into products such as wallets and other accessories for men and women.
The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Alaa Darwish, Coordinator of the Studies and Projects Department and Head of the An-Najah Center for Training and Rehabilitation at Hisham Hijjawi College, who emphasized that the training aims to empower the University’s academic and technical staff. He noted that enhancing staff competencies directly contributes to enriching students’ skills and better preparing them to meet labor market demands.
Mr. Darwish also extended his gratitude to guest trainer Mr. Hamed Badr, owner of a leather industries company in Hebron, for sharing his professional expertise and providing participants with valuable insights into leading field practices.
The training brought together a select group of instructors from the Department of Fashion Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Fashion and Clothing Technology Program at Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology. Their active engagement added significant value to the program.
This initiative reflects An-Najah University’s ongoing commitment to organizing specialized training programs in partnership with the private sector, thereby ensuring graduates are well-prepared to compete and innovate across diverse fields.
