Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology Hosts Governor of Nablus, Mayor of Nablus, and Local Leaders to Discuss Development Plan for the City’s Eastern Area

The meeting brought together Mr. Ghassan Daghlas, Governor of Nablus, and Dr. Hossam Al-Shakhshir, Mayor of Nablus, along with representatives from the Nablus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Businessmen Forum, heads and representatives of public and private institutions, as well as committees from the city’s eastern area.
The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Amer Massad, Dean of Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology, accompanied by department heads and faculty and administrative staff members.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Massad expressed his appreciation for the visit and the guests’ interest in addressing the challenges of Nablus, particularly the eastern area where the College is located. He emphasized the strategic importance of this part of the city, home to several public and private institutions, including Hisham Hijjawi College itself. He also underlined the critical role of technical education in meeting labor market needs and briefly reviewed the College’s key achievements, its academic programs, and the success of its graduates.
Governor Daghlas spoke about the comprehensive development plan currently being prepared for the entire Nablus governorate, noting that special focus will be placed on the eastern area due to its vitality and importance. He called on all public and private sector institutions to work collectively as one team to foster the growth and prosperity of the city. He also highlighted a series of projects that are set to be implemented in the eastern area in the near future.
Mayor Al-Shakhshir expressed his pleasure at visiting Hisham Hijjawi College, describing it as a leading institution in technical and vocational education. He reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment, together with partner institutions, to prioritizing the city’s interests and ensuring its continued development.
It is worth noting that the Governor of Nablus, the Mayor, and the heads of several public and private institutions and community committees also conducted an exploratory tour of the eastern area of Nablus as part of a broader city-wide tour. The visit aimed to identify pressing challenges and work toward practical solutions that will contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
