On Thursday, October 8, 2023, Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology, in collaboration with the Thabari Project, participated in an awareness event aimed at promoting opportunities in technical education and the integration of girls, particularly those with disabilities, into technical fields. The event is part of the Thabari project, which focuses on Gender-Responsive and Inclusive Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across the West Bank. The project is implemented by the World Lutheran Federation and the Canadian Lutheran World Relief, with funding from the Government of Canada.

The event took place at the Tulkarm Governorate building, with the presence of key officials including Mr. Rafaat Diab, Acting Director General of Development and Planning, and Ms. Raeda Awwad, Director of the Gender Department. Hisham Hijjawi College was represented by Engineer Alaa Darwish, Coordinator of the Studies and Projects Department and Head of An-Najah Center for Training and Rehabilitation, along with Mr. Asaad Awad, Coordinator of the Public Relations and Employment Department. Mr. Anan Marrar, representing the Thabari Project, also participated, and the event saw wide representation from women’s institutions across the public and private sectors in Tulkarm.

The event provided an overview of the diverse disciplines offered at Hisham Hijjawi College, with special attention to the programs supported by the Thabari project. These programs are designed to empower and encourage girls, especially those with disabilities, to pursue technical and vocational education. The session also highlighted the various scholarships available through the project, the eligibility criteria, and the application process, reinforcing the college’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
