The Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology opened its doors in October 2001, when it welcomed its first cohort of trainees. The college was founded by the Hisham Adib Hijjawi Foundation and An-Najah National University, with the cooperation and support of a number of Arab and international partners, as well as generous support from the Federal Government of Germany.

The college was established to advance professional and technical education through programs that combine comprehensive theoretical study with hands-on practical application, in order to supply the labour market with technicians capable of keeping pace with the rapid developments across the technological fields the college offers.

Its programs run over two academic years and are aimed primarily at graduates of all branches of the General Secondary Education (Tawjihi). The college also offers training programs designed to train and re-qualify the workforce through specialized short courses and longer, year-long courses.

College Objectives

  • Admit students wishing to pursue technical and vocational training in order to contribute to sustainable development.
  • Qualify and develop national human resources in the technical, vocational and commercial fields.
  • Deliver training and educational programs of a quality and standard that qualify trainees to obtain suitable jobs in the labour market or to engage in self-employment.
  • Provide continuing education and retraining, along with diverse study programs and short and long courses for the local community.
  • Strengthen partnership and cooperation with the community and the private sector, and align program outcomes with the practical requirements of available jobs.
