A delegation from the Employment and Job Placement Council in Nablus and a number of representatives of the institutions that are members of the council visited Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology on Tuesday, 27/12/2022. The goal of the visit was to review the latest developments in the College, mainly projects funded by the European Union and the German Development Corporation (GIZ).

Dr. Amir Massad, the dean of Hisham Hijjawi College, and several academic and administrative department heads greeted the delegation. The representative of the governor of Nablus in employment and job placement, Mr. Haitham Dweikat, led the delegation.

Dr. Massad welcomed the delegation and expressed the College's interest in creating collaborative relationships and projects to serve the local community. He then mentioned that there is a greater demand for technical experts in both domestic and global markets than the number of students graduating in technical fields from the College each year. This is due to the global focus on such disciplines.

During the College meeting, Mr. Alaa Darwish, the studies and projects department coordinator, provided a brief overview of the notable projects being undertaken in collaboration with local and international institutions. These projects include the new intermediate diploma in hybrid and electric vehicle technology, which has been developed as part of the technical and vocational education program. This program aims to meet the labor market's needs, particularly in technical and vocational education and training (DO-TVET). The German Development Cooperation is responsible for implementing the project that was launched in the 2022-2023 academic year.

Mr. Foad Dawood, head of the engineering professions and computer department at the College, said that the College had successfully launched the previously mentioned discipline, and many students enrolled. He indicated that the College trained a professional team before launching the specialization and got full logistic support of equipment to the labs from the project funders.

During their tour of the College's center facilities and laboratories, the delegation was left impressed by both the infrastructure and the staff. Of particular note was the mechanic lab, which boasts all the necessary equipment for teaching students hybrid and electric vehicle technology.
